I’m fortunate to call Northern Michigan home, a place where people come to vacation.
I live in Good Hart with Lake Michigan below my house and the winding Tunnel of Trees out my front door. We live in the woods where the air is clean and nature surrounds us. I have a fabulous husband named Eric and kitties Fern and Olive who make life fun.
#LifeinGoodHart is about birdwatching, kayaking, beachcombing, rock picking, and venturing deep into the woods on designated trails.
And I work here, too.
I’m an entrepreneur who helps business owners turn ideas into a successful home online.
For more than 25 years, I’ve watched small businesses work incredibly hard during a short tourist season. The seasonality of business in northern Michigan has given me a tremendous appreciation for small business owners.
And, while they’re resourceful and independent, they don’t want to become experts in websites, SEO, or Google.
That’s where I come in. I get to make a living doing what I love.

Somehow, I Became the Website Person
My career in web design started more than 25 years ago. I built a website with HTML which might have scared off most people. Not me. I had no idea what the future of web design meant, but I knew I had to be a part of it.
I spent years studying code for building websites. I took classes in PhotoShop for image editing. Then along came search engines like Yahoo and Google.
One thing simply led to another…
Websites became more complicated. Google became more important. Social media arrived. Local search changed how we find businesses. Phones became computers so we had to design websites to play nice on small devices.
And every time the Internet changed, I was excited to learn what changed, and why. I’m still learning and experimenting and asking questions. Sometimes I stare at my computer and mutter, “Well, that’s new…”
A few things I’ve learned living here
Experience doesn’t mean I know everything. It means I can recognize when something doesn’t make sense. And living near Lake Michigan means I have to take time and go listen to the waves. Often.
